Daily Update – May 18th, 2017

Sorry about yesterday, time was not my friend, but I’m back with a double sized recap and preview today.

Orlando City SC – Orlando (6-3-2, 20pts) played the San Jose Earthquakes (4-4-4, 16pts) to a 1-1 draw last night in San Jose. OrlandoCitySC.com recap here! Next up for the Lions will be New York City FC in Orlando Sunday at 7pm.

Orlando Magic – Magic get the 6th draft pick in the draft lottery. Speculation continues to run rampant over who the Magic will hire on as new Team President, with it seeming the Magic really want David Griffin for the jobs. Mike Bianchi from OrlandoSentinel.com covers the story here!

Tampa Bay Rays – The Rays (21-22) won 2 in a row against the Cleveland Indians (20-19), 6-4 on Tuesday (MLB.com recap here!) and 7-4 on Wednesday (MLB.com recap here!). The Rays head back home now to start a series with the New York Yankees (24-13) on Friday.

Florida Fire Frogs – The Frogs (18-22) dropped 2 in a row to the Tampa Yankees (19-21), 3-0 on Tuesday (MiLB.com recap here!) and 4-1 Wednesday (MLB.com recap here!). Today is the final game of the series. It starts at 7:05pm at Osceola County Stadium and live audio streaming will be available here!

Orlando Solar Bears – The 2017-18 schedule is out for the Solar Bears. The season will open on the road October 14th, and will have their home opener on Oct 28th against the Atlanta Gladiators. The full schedule can be found here!

UCF Baseball – The Knights (36-17) lost to Florida Atlantic (31-18-1) 9-4 on Wednesday. UCFKnights.com recap here! Daily Update – May 15th, 2017

Tampa Bay Rays – Rays (19-21) beat the Boston Red Sox (19-18) 11-2 on Sunday at Fenway. A seven run ninth inning put the Rays out of reach by the Sox. MLB.com game recap here! Orlando Pride –  The Pride (1-2-2, 5pts) finally got that elusive first win in team history yesterday, beating the previously undefeated North Carolina Courage (4-1-0, 12pts) 3-1 at Orlando City Stadium. UCF Women’s Track and Field – UCF finished 4th in the 2017 American Athletic Conference Outdoor Championship on Sunday. Anne-Marie Blaney picked up two more silver medals (1,500-meter, 5,000 meter) to finish with 3 on the weekend, while Ebony Crear picked up a silver in the 400-meter hurdles, Rosie Chamberlain grabbed the silver in the 800-meter, Ashley Jocelyn got the bronze in the 400-meter dash, and the UCF team won silver in the 4×400 relay. Seminole State Women’s Golf – The Raiders compete for the NJCAA Women’s Golf National Championship at Chateau Elan Resort in Braselton, Georgia starting today. The team looks for it’s 2nd NJCAA National Championship after claiming the title in 2015. Follow along here!

Orlando City SC – Orlando City (6-3-1, 19pts) ended up with a 2-2 draw against Sporting Kansas City (5-2-4, 19pts) on Saturday night in Orlando. This ended the streak of 6 straight home wins to open the season and new stadium, but The Lions have still not lost at home. Larin and Kaka both scored for Orlando City. Orlando City SC – Orlando City (6-3-0, 18pts) return home after losing 2 in a row on the road to face Sporting Kansas City (5-2-3, 18pts) today at Orlando City Stadium at 7pm. UCF Women’s Track & Field – Chelsea Goburne captured the Silver in the hammer throw and Anne-Marie Blaney captured the silver in the 10,000 meter run at the 2017 American Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships. Recap of the full days events here! The Championships continue today.

UCF Men’s Tennis – The UCF Men’s Tennis Team (#28) fell to Louisville (#42) 4-3 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament at Ohio State on Friday. This will end the teams season. Recap from UCFKnights.com here!

UCF Women’s Rowing – The American Championship continues today in Sarasota for the Women’s Rowing team.

Rollin’s Baseball – The Tars (27-23) lost both games of a double header to Tampa (37-12) in Tampa Friday. Tampa won with scores of 3-1 and 9-4, recap from RollinsSports.com here! This ends the Tars 2017 season.

Rollin’s Rowing – The Tars continue to compete in the 2017 Dad Vail Regatta today.

Daily Update – May 11th, 2017

Florida Fire Frogs – The Fire Frogs (17-17) won 14-2 against the Daytona Tortugas (19-15) in Daytona yesterday. MiLB.com game recap here! The Fire Frogs are off to Lakeland to take on the Flying Tigers (16-18) for 3 games with game 1 starting tonight at 6:30pm. Live audio streaming of the game will be available here! Rollin’s Women’s Golf – The Tar’s had a great final day of the NCAA Division II Super Regional, shooting the best team round of any school in the entire tournament and moving from 5th to a 2nd place finish in the tournament, qualifying them for the NCAA Division II National Championship Tournament.
