Daily Update – May 9th, 2017

Tampa Bay Rays – The Rays (16-18) fell to the Kansas City Royals (11-20), 7-3 on Monday in Tampa Bay. Despite a good start by Nathan Karns (6 1/3 Inn, 10 Ks, 6 H, 2 R), 4 errors by the team led to the loss. MLB.com recap here! The series continues today at 7:10pm in Tampa, with Matt Andriese (2-1 3.09 ERA) going for the Rays against Chris Young (0-0 4.22 ERA) for the Royals. Florida Fire Frogs – The Fire Frogs (16-16) beat The Daytona Tortugas (18-14) in Daytona on Monday, 9-2 on the strength of a 7-run 6th inning. MiLB game recap here! The teams will play in Daytona again today at 7:05pm, with live streaming audio available here!

Josh Jackson of MiLB.com takes a look at the hot start of Frogs Catcher, Alex Jackson here! Jackson currently leads the Florida State League in homeruns with 10 and is hitting .295 with 27 RBI’s through the first 32 games of the season.

Shaq – Shaquille O’Neal announced yesterday that he plans to run for Sherriff in 2020. He hasn’t decided where he is running for sheriff yet though, Paul Wesley Sullivan of Fox 19 has coverage here!
