Daily Update – May 18th, 2017

Sorry about yesterday, time was not my friend, but I’m back with a double sized recap and preview today.

Orlando City SC – Orlando (6-3-2, 20pts) played the San Jose Earthquakes (4-4-4, 16pts) to a 1-1 draw last night in San Jose. OrlandoCitySC.com recap here! Next up for the Lions will be New York City FC in Orlando Sunday at 7pm.

Orlando Magic – Magic get the 6th draft pick in the draft lottery. Speculation continues to run rampant over who the Magic will hire on as new Team President, with it seeming the Magic really want David Griffin for the jobs. Mike Bianchi from OrlandoSentinel.com covers the story here!

Tampa Bay Rays – The Rays (21-22) won 2 in a row against the Cleveland Indians (20-19), 6-4 on Tuesday (MLB.com recap here!) and 7-4 on Wednesday (MLB.com recap here!). The Rays head back home now to start a series with the New York Yankees (24-13) on Friday.

Florida Fire Frogs – The Frogs (18-22) dropped 2 in a row to the Tampa Yankees (19-21), 3-0 on Tuesday (MiLB.com recap here!) and 4-1 Wednesday (MLB.com recap here!). Today is the final game of the series. It starts at 7:05pm at Osceola County Stadium and live audio streaming will be available here!

Orlando Solar Bears – The 2017-18 schedule is out for the Solar Bears. The season will open on the road October 14th, and will have their home opener on Oct 28th against the Atlanta Gladiators. The full schedule can be found here!

UCF Baseball – The Knights (36-17) lost to Florida Atlantic (31-18-1) 9-4 on Wednesday. UCFKnights.com recap here! Daily Update May 12th, 2017

Tampa Bay Rays – Rays (17-20) fall 6-0 to the Kansas City Royals (13-21) yesterday in Tampa. Game recap from MLB.com here! The Rays now head to Boston for a 3 game weekend series with the Red Sox (18-16), with game 1 today at 7:10pm. The game will be on Fox Sports Sun, game preview here!

E-Sports – CEO has announced that the 2017 CEO Fighting Game Championships (June 16-18) will be the last year the event will be held in Orlando. The event will move to Daytona Beach starting in 2018, coverage from bizjournals.com here!

UCF Baseball – UCF (34-15) are in Cincinnati to take on the Bearcats (26-23) in a three-game series this weekend, with game 1 today at 6:30pm, the game will be broadcast on 96.9 The Game. Series preview available here!

Rollin’s College Sports – Men’s Rowing and Women’s Rowing will both compete in the Dad Vail Championships in Philadelphia starting today, live coverage will be available here!  Meanwhile the Women’s Lacrosse team will compete in the NCAA Tournament starting today.

Tampa Bay Rays – The Rays (16-17) lost to the Toronto Blue Jays (11-20) 2-1 on Sunday at Tropicana Field. The Rays lost 2 of 3 to Toronto in their weekend series. Game recap from mlb.com here! Tonight the Rays start a series with the Kansas City Royals (10-20) in Tampa, it’ll be Blake Snell for the Rays against Nathan Karns for the Royals. Florida Fire Frogs – The Fire Frogs (15-16) got a walk off win, 3-2, over the Clearwater Threshers (19-12) on Sunday at Osceola County Stadium. The win gave the Frogs a series victory over the first place Threshers, 3 games to 1. Game recap from milb.com here! Tampa Bay Rays – The Rays (15-15) beat the Miami Marlins (12-15) 5-1 Thursday night in Tampa to win the Citrus Series 3-1. Tim Beckham had 2 homer’s and Matt Andriese got eight k’s in 7 shutout innings for the win. Game recap care of rays.mlb.com here! Seminole State Raiders Softball –
The Raiders won the first game today, 4-3 over Indian River in the semifinals of the FCSAA State Tournament, but then lost 4-0 to Florida Southwestern in the Winner’s Bracket Finals.
They can still advance to the National Championship if they win the Loser’s Bracket game tomorrow morning at noon. And if they win that game they will play Florida Southwestern again tommorow evening for the State Championship.
