Daily Update – May 11th, 2017

Florida Fire Frogs – The Fire Frogs (17-17) won 14-2 against the Daytona Tortugas (19-15) in Daytona yesterday. MiLB.com game recap here! The Fire Frogs are off to Lakeland to take on the Flying Tigers (16-18) for 3 games with game 1 starting tonight at 6:30pm. Live audio streaming of the game will be available here! Pitcher Luiz Gohara was transferred to Mississippi by the Braves and pitcher Andres Santiago was moved from Rome to the Fire Frogs to replace him. MiLB covers the players involved here!

NCAA Football – The 2017-18 Bowl schedule has been released and the following will be hosted in Central Florida:

  • The Cure Bowl – Saturday December 16th at Camping World Stadium (American Athletic vs Sun Belt)
  • The Camping World Bowl – Thursday December 28th at Camping World Stadium. (Big 12 vs ACC)
  • The Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus Bowl – January 1st at Camping World Stadium

UCF Baseball – UCF (34-15) defeated the Miami Hurricanes (24-24) 5-2 on Wednesday in Coral Gables. UCFKnights.com game recap here!

UCF Softball – UCF (29-23) lost to East Carloina (26-29) 4-2 Wednesday. The loss comes in the first round of the American Championship tournament and puts an end to UCF Softball’s season. UCFKnights.com recap here!

Rollin’s Women’s Golf – The Tar’s had a great final day of the NCAA Division II Super Regional, shooting the best team round of any school in the entire tournament and moving from 5th to a 2nd place finish in the tournament, qualifying them for the NCAA Division II National Championship Tournament. Rollin’s Baseball – Rollins (27-20) face Tampa (34-12) in Tampa today at 3pm for the start of a 3 game series, the final regular season series for the Tars. Series preview available here!

Daily Update – May 10, 2017

Orlando City SC – Orlando City founder, Phil Rowlins, is moving out of Orlando. He is going into semi-retirement but will keep his position as Life President of Orlando City SC and still represent the Lions at MLS meetings and functions. Atlanta Braves (Spring Training) – The Sarasota County Commission approved partial funding for a new training camp for the Braves, if the rest of the funding is found, the Braves will no longer have spring training in Orlando, and move to Sarasota in 2019. BallparkDigest has more details here!

UCF Women’s Golf – UCF had a better day Tuesday at the NCAA Athens Regional tournament, hitting a combined 299, compared with a 304 Monday, but are still tied for 11th overall. Rollin’s Men’s Golf – Rollins hit a combined 295 on Tuesday in the NCAA Division II South/SE Region Tournament, and moved up to 19th overall. Rollinssports.com recap here! The third and final round of the tournament is today.

Tampa Bay Rays – The Rays (16-17) lost to the Toronto Blue Jays (11-20) 2-1 on Sunday at Tropicana Field. The Rays lost 2 of 3 to Toronto in their weekend series. Game recap from mlb.com here! Tonight the Rays start a series with the Kansas City Royals (10-20) in Tampa, it’ll be Blake Snell for the Rays against Nathan Karns for the Royals.
